The 26th SCHLiNGEL International Film Festival for Children and Young Audiences drew 17,000 visitors to the cinemas - at these special times. The top prizes went to Belgium, Bangladesh, Russia and Iran. 193 films from almost 50 countries were screened during the festival week, with more than 200 to follow by the end of the year.

The 11th finished in 7 of September in an atmosphere full of joy, passion, music and dance in the organ hall of the Philharmonic. During the 4 days of the festival, there were workshops, master classes and author’s lectures and the children had the chance to come into contact with many people from other regions, learned about their creative techniques, as well as the trends of the national and international television and film industries.

Busan International Kid's Film Festival will take place from July 24th to 28th, 2013. Busan International Kids' Film Festival (BiKi) is a visual culture festivity for children, leading the future of Busan, known as the City of film and visual arts. It provide not only pleasures but a ground for visual arts education, as well. Having started its pre-festival in 2005, BiKi has been holding a festival every year in July or August since 2006 during summer vacation for school children. This year, its 8th edition will be held from July 24th to 28th at Busan Cinema Center in Korea. The screening program of 8th BiKi is composed of BiKi Feature Films, BiKi Short Films, Special Programs, Ready Action (films made by children age 6-16) with events such as Poster Contest and Exhibition, Tent Theater, Anime Music Concert, Media Sharing Market, Film and Fun, Kids' Cine-Playground, Children Filmmakers' Night Party, Film Workshop and Seminars. "Ready~Action!" is the only competitive section of BiKi for films made by 6 to16 year- old- kids and young people in and out Korea. During the festival, Children Jury will choose the best films in the final screening, which are well angled toward kids' points of view. Deadline for Submission: May 31, 2013

"The Hunt", "The Act of Killing" and "Northwest" are shortlisted for the title as Denmark's Foreign Language film. The Danish Oscar committee decided upon a shortlist of three films, one of which will be submitted as the Danish candidate in the Foreign Language Film category. The final candidate is expected to be announced on Thursday, 26 September. The films have been selected by a committee set up by the Danish Film Institute and film industry organisations.

The 12th China International Children’s Film Festival is now open for film submission. The festival is held in two main sections: 1. Competition: Children’s Film and Animated Features 2. Panorama: Special Subject Screening The International Jury, the Children Jury, and the CIFEJ Jury will give their special awards to the best films. Final film submission deadline is April 30, 2013; please submit your application online (http://www.cicfif.cn/ ). The DVD screener of film should be sent to the festival office before May 10, 2013.

The 18th Festival Intenacional de Cine para Niños will take place from August 6th to 11th, 2013 in Mexico City. This year, thefestival is also extended to the north of the country, in the city of Tijuana from 25th to 31th August, 2013. The 18° Festival Internacional de Cine para Niños (…y no tan Niños) gives a symbolic award and one diploma in each category in competition: Feature Films (Fiction or Animation); Short Films (Fiction); Short Films (Animation); Documentary for kids. The festival also has dedicated a section to the Short films made by kids in Mexico and other countries (Non competitive). Oulu International Children’s and Youth Film Festival (21– 27.11.2011) will be celebrating its 30th anniversary! This year's focus is on Danish films for children and young people, including unforgettable classics as well as fresh new favourites. A Danish Day will be arranged on Tuesday 22nd of November. In total over 100 movies will be shown at the festival. To see the list of prizes awarded at this festival, click here. The history of the festival will be presented to the public in a special 30th anniversary exhibition. There will be a photo exhibition with pictures taken by children and young people. It will be arranged in co-operation with Northern Photographic Centre MEDIA EDUCATION SEMINAR A two-day seminar on media education will take place on 23- 24th of November. One of the themes is the Danish model of media education. Cinema consultant Jacob Breuning from Danish Film institute is lecturing of “Experience, understand and create – the Danish model of film and media literacy.

The 17th Festival Internacional de Cine para Niños (…y no tan Niños) kicks-off August 7th and will continue till August 12th, 2012. The festival will screen interesting short animations, long and short fictions, as well as documentaries. During the festival, animations from Japan,Italy, Iran, Canada, and several other countries will be screened among which is the short animation "The Farmer and the Robot", directed by the eminent Iranian animator "Abdollah Alimorad who is present at the festival". MA African students (3 from Ghana, 1 from Nigeria, and 1 from Sudan) participated in the “ABC OF AFRICAN CHILDREN’S MEDIA” Summer Course which was held for 3 weeks at Ohio University. Firdoze Bulbulia, the Chairperson of Children and Broadcasting Foundation for Africa (CBFA), Director of Moments Entertainment and Director of Africa’s Best Channel (ABC) who has headed the workshop stated the COURSE OBJECTIVES as follow: “Providing an overview of the African Children’s media with a specific concentration on the development and production of children’s media in Africa, especially South Africa and Nigeria.”

The 10thBiennial of Animation Bratislava kicks off on Monday Oct 12th . ANIMATION-SCHOOL AT PLAY is the title of a Seminar which focus is on Children, Visegrad Countries and their friends from around the world. It is held integrated with an Animation Workshop during the festival with the active participation of Erling Ericsson and other filmmakers with the support of the CIFEJ Headquarters which has been recently established in Tehran. Susanne Bier wins Golden Globe “In a Better World” finished first as Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globe ceremony in Los Angeles. Susanne Bier's triumph in Los Angeles puts the director in good company. Only twice before has a Danish film been awarded a Golden Globe – first time was in 1956 with Carl Theodor Dreyer's "The Word", followed by Bille August's "Pelle the Conqueror" in 1988.

The Berlinale has selected two Danish films for the Generation 14plus programme: Heidi Maria Faisst's "Rebounce" and Rune Schjøtt's feature film debut "Skyscraper". In February, some 60 feature and short films will celebrate their premieres at the House of World Cultures, Generation’s new main venue. Twelve feature-length films have already been confirmed.

The young organizers of the 11th Film Festival du Grain à Démoudre’ (14th- 21st November 2010, in Harfleur-Normandy/France) propose a scriptwriting competition on the theme "Time" for young people aged from 15 to 25. The scriptwriters who will be selected will be invited to the festival, where they will make up the script writing Jury. Their work will be presented and read by actors to the audience during the festival.

The Cinekid Foundation introduces a new award: an audience and a jury award for the Best Dutch Family Film. The prize will be awarded for the first time at this year's 24th Cinekid Festival in October. Films qualifying for selection have to be full length Dutch films made for children under the age of 14, produced in the year before the festival.
