The Winner of CIFEJ in Filem’On 2023 is: Mighty Afrin: In the Time of Flood

In the 17th edition of Filem’On (International Film Festival for Young Audiences) was held from 25 of October till 4 of November 2023 in Brussels, Belgium and the movie “Mighty Afrin: In the Time of Flood” won CIFEJ Award. This film is written and directed by Angelos Pallis, the Greek writer, director and cinematographer and is coproduced by Greece, France and Germany. The CIFEJ Jury members were Pamela Bisson from Canada and Volodymyr Dyagilev from Ukraine. The film is about the 12-year-old orphan Afrin who during the mighty Brahmaputra river rising prepares to leave the only world she has ever known. When the floodwaters submerge her home, she refuses to surrender to its deadly tides. Afrin rows herself in a wooden boat toward the teeming metropolis of Dhaka to find her estranged among the millions of climate refugees.
