Susanne Bier wins Golden Globe

“In a Better World” finished first as Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globe ceremony in Los Angeles.

Susanne Bier's triumph in Los Angeles puts the director in good company. Only twice before has a Danish film been awarded a Golden Globe – first time was in 1956 with Carl Theodor Dreyer's "The Word", followed by Bille August's "Pelle the Conqueror" in 1988.

Success continues for Bier's drama. "In a Better World" reaped critical acclaim at its international launch in Toronto and has won top awards in Sevilla and Rome. The film is soon up for US release at the upcoming Sundance festival and is singled out as Denmark's Oscar contender for a Best Foreign Language film nomination.

"In a Better World" is produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen for Zentropa and supported by the Danish Film Institute. US distribution rights are handled by Sony Pictures Classics who are planning for its theatrical release in March. TrustNordisk is handling international sales.
